Pshew, this has been one long week. Work has been super busy, but everything got finished and it all looked great, always a good thing! I still haven't been able to figure out Photoshop (anybody have any tips on a good help book for Photoshop?), but someone is going to show Dave and I some basics today so I can get out my swap cd's (note to self - let swap partners know that I'm running late!).
I've gotten 3 cd's from the cd swap, and stitch markers from Jen that are amazing. I'll post pictures once I upload them. Thanks Jen, Amy and Chris, I can't wait to listen to all of your cd's once I load them onto my iPod!
BBM2 is going really well, I'm getting lots and lots of folks signing up. New countries include Sweden and Italy, hooray! I'm really looking forward to this swap. It's so nice to meet so many new people, and to have so many new blogs to check out too! I need another 12 hours in a day sometimes. :)
This weekend should be nice. We're going to visit a friend in NJ tomorrow, Dave's roommate in college, the friend's name is Dave (we call him Big Dave, his nickname from college, and my Dave was little Dave). Big Dave used to live on the lower east side in NYC, and we would go visit him, buy tons and tons of food, and have mini-cooking lessons. It was alot of fun, and we've missed seeing him since he moved to the garden state, so it'll be nice to see his new pad.
Sunday I have a hair appointment, yay! Cut and a color. I had been growing my hair out up to about 6 months ago, then decided that deep down I'm really a short-haired person and found a fab new hairdresser with the help of my friend Christina. If any of you NYC folks need a hairdresser, ask me and I'll let you know who I see. Then I think we'll go to Brooklyn to see our friends Justin and Meg, Justin just took the NY bar exam and we'll finally be able to see him in post-bar studying mode! And we haven't told him yet that we're now vegetarians, he'll be excited. :)
Hmmmm, what else... well, I'm looking into classes Dave and I can take in the fall. We've taken Jewish Studies classes at the JCC before, so I have to look through the schedule and see if there are any fun 1 day classes coming up. There are some 8 week courses, which are great, but the price adds up once you factor in round trip tickets on metro-north plus subway. One day, when we get our apartment on the Upper West side, I'll take loads of classes there, and join the gym too. We were pool members for a year, and their pool is GORGEOUS! Windows on two sides, it looks out over the UWS, mmmmm... fantastic.
There is a pottery studio near us that has classes, it's an 8 week course and clay is included. Class size is 10 people, and I think we'd both love that. We don't really have a vacation planned for the rest of the year, so maybe that'll be our summer/fall treat. I had been thinking we'd go to Boston for the Boston folk fest, but that's Yom Kippur, so maybe we'll stay home. Not sure about that yet.
I have this overwhelming sense of calm today. Like all is right with the world. We're happy and healthy (this vegetarian diet is doing us a world of good - tons of energy, peaceful, we're even losing weight - yay!). We have lots and lots of friends, this NYC foodie group has really expanded our social circle, which is wonderful. Our apartment is a bit messy, but what are you going to do? It's almost the weekend, the weather is beautiful, what more could I ask for? See, I'm super 'glass is half full' today!
I hope everyone is well, and if you're new here, welcome.
